Laser Focused

If you’ve read a blog from me before, no doubt that you’ve heard the term ‘the church of 2050’. It’s my passion. It’s my prayer. It’s my focus.

Every other month, Kailey Bacon and I host our MC Kids leaders for something called “Family Dinner”. While dinner is most definitely consumed, we also talk about what’s happening in our ministry. In every family, there are subjects that are hard to talk about; subjects that cause tension. We train and talk about procedures, leader schedules and new methodology that we want to implement into our ministry to always try and engage the heart of children for Jesus.

In our most recent Family Dinner, we continued our discussion about the book, Resilient, and the chapter entitled, “It’s All About Belong, Believe and Become”.

Did you know that when NASA was formed, they had 8 objectives? Eight very different objectives and ones that didn’t really link together to form clear direction. Eight objectives that were all good ideas, but it didn’t allow for much movement. In 1961, John F. Kennedy made a pronouncement to NASA and said, “Land a man on the moon and return him safely before the end of this decade.” Boom. Mic Drop. Laser-focused.

Let’s bring it home. What will the culture of 2050 look like? What will the world look like for our children and grand children? What will the church look like in 20-30 years? Our church?

Post-Covid, the Church has been forced to focus on what’s important. For our ministry, Mount Carmel Kids, we’re focused on Child Discipleship. Laser-focused.

Why do we gather? To make child disciples.

Where are we going to find the pastors of our churches? From our kids.

How do we produce our children to be leaders? We have to be laser-focused.

What does it look like to disciple children? The pathway for our team is this:

  1. Know their name.
  2. Know their heart.
  3. Know their struggle and pain.
  4. Know their spiritual growth journey.
  5. Believe in their potential.

I challenged our team and I’m challenging you with this:  What if the next Didi Bacon is here in our classrooms? The next Rick Anderson, Arlan Howard, Kailey Bacon, Aaron Adams…..put any of our ministry staff names into that question. If that’s true, would you help us to be laser-focused on Child Discipleship?!

The church of 2050 needs you now.

With Joy,

Lisa
