As many of you have noticed, we have entered the fall season. Fun fact about me is that fall is my favorite season. You have the changing colors of the trees, grocery stores, and restaurants bring out all of the pumpkin spice food, and of course the weather. The summer heat has now been replaced with cool and crisp mornings and warm afternoons. While this time of year is beautiful and enjoyed by so many, the freezing temperatures of winter are just around the corner. This year, we are partnering with Inter Parish Ministry for a coat drive during the month of October.

Many families in our community are in need of warm clothing for colder seasons and by donating your new or slightly used coats, we can warm up our community this season.

This coat drive was brought to our church because a young lady named, Abbey Williams, was challenged and inspired this past summer at the CIY event our high schoolers went to. She was challenged to get involved with the different missions that our church supports and when she talked with our missions team, they encouraged her to think about doing a coat drive with Inter Parish Ministry. This is something that she was very excited to start and to kick off her challenge given to her from CIY.

This coat drive will be going on through the entire month of October and the donated coats will be sent to IPM on October 30th. I encourage everyone to take time this month and go through your closets to find those warm clothes you no longer have a need for. Additionally, if you feel lead to give, new coats are a great donation as well! You can drop off any donations in the totes that are located in the foyer anytime during the week. Just like the gift cards for our first responders, this is another great opportunity for us as a church to impact our community during this time of year.
