Events are a great tool in ministry to build excitement and increase participation in both our Student and Children’s Ministries. The most recent events have been Winter Jam for our Student Ministry and the SuperStart conference for our preteens. Winter Jam is a big concert filled with multiple well-known Christian music artists and speakers. Our students were really excited for KB, Tauren Wells, and Skillet! Overall, the entire night was a huge success and a whole lot of fun. We had a group of 33 people go with 11 leaders and 22 students and out of those 22 students, 4 of them wanted to talk more about getting baptized! We know that the Spirit of God can move at any moment, but God is so incredible to move in the hearts of 4 of our students to feel His presence and want to surrender their life to Him!

  1. The SuperStart Conference for our 3rd-5th graders took place at a sister church in northern Kentucky this year. Twenty-nine preteens and six chaperones spent Friday night and Saturday together. Truths taught and learned were:
The gospel is the good news!
  2. Sin is the problem that separates us from God and Jesus is the key to opening the door back to God
  3. Sin is the problem, BUT we are saved by grace which is an undeserved gift!
Because of His grace, we are sent to share the Good News!
  4. There is nothing sweeter than the sound of 1,000 elementary kids singing their hearts out in worship. While in this safe environment, all of us could worship with our whole heart without the pressures of school and sports commitments. We were just there to learn, worship, and have a blast while doing so. Small group conversations which took place with our leaders were priceless. While we ate pizza, Chick-Fil-A, went to a trampoline park, and even had a sleepover at Mount Carmel, the highlight was still spending time together learning more about how God wants to work in our lives.

Events like this seem like they are just meant for fun and to give the students a break from the regular stuff of life. However, these events are truly a piece of our discipleship strategy for discipling the next generation. They are opportunities for both students and leaders to grow closer with God and for them to have the opportunity to accept Him as Lord of their lives. Winter Jam and SuperStart are two examples of this! Our Student Ministry and MC Kids Ministry have more events coming up this year. Please join us in praying that during these events, opportunities arise for God’s Spirit to move in the hearts of our students. John 14:26 says: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” God’s Spirit is working in both of these ministry areas and we can’t wait to see how He moves in the days to come!
