Women Need Connection

“The ladies were gathering their things and putting on their coats and scarves and gloves as they left the weekly women’s Bible study. The weather had been bitter cold all week but they had ventured out anyway, anxious to share each other’s company. They’d been studying the Lord’s Word together for years and they had come to love each other deeply. It was through their desire to know God’s will for their lives and the fact they shared their own joys and struggles with each other that their love grew.

They were laughing and chatting as they left the church. They stopped abruptly when they saw a young woman huddled low and crying on the church stairs. They rushed to gather around her, giving her warmth and brushing her hair from her face. ‘What is it?’ they asked, ‘How can we help you?’  Then, “Let’s go inside and get you warm.”  The ladies warmed her and soothed her; they listened and assured her they would help her. They did all that was needed in that moment and told her they would be there for her if she wanted to turn her life around.”

Paul said in Galatians 5:14 NKJV: “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The Fruit of the Spirit, which has been the focus of our Sunday messages over the last few weeks, is illustrated in the above story.

“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. “Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)

This kind of love and fellowship is available to all of us. Women can approach another woman in pain to help in their time of need. Women can laugh together and simply enjoy each other’s company. Women can pray for each other in whatever circumstance. God created us to need connection both with Him and with each other. We need this to flourish and thrive and to be whole individuals this side of Heaven.

Our Women’s Breakfast Gatherings are a good place for ladies to put their feet in the water and find that connection and that fellowship. One of our own, Anna Snyder, will be sharing her story with us at our upcoming event. We would love to have you join us for our next gathering on Saturday, February 24th from 9:30-11:00 am. See you there!
