Passage: Ephesians 6:14 (NIV), Ephesians 6:14 (NASB), Romans 3:21–24 (NIV), Galatians 5:14 (NIV)

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, Ephesians 6:14 (NIV)

Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, Ephesians 6:14 (NASB)

The breastplate protects your vital organs

The Devil’s accusations are intended to make your failure into your identity

What is righteousness?

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:21-24 (NIV)

By God’s grace, through faith in Jesus you are made right with God

Righteousness protects you from the accusations of the devil

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14 (NIV)
