Every Day Carry | Week 1 | Do Not Give Satan An Inch In Your Life
This weekend we’re continuing our Everyday Carry series by talking about what it means to be prepared for the battles we face in life. I’ll start with a story from my time in Colorado—how the mountains have a way of teaching wisdom if you’re willing to listen. Just like you need the right gear when you’re out on a mountain, we need the right spiritual gear for everyday life.
Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:10–11 to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” and to “put on the full armor of God.” The Christian life isn’t a walk through a field of roses—it’s a battlefield. As J.I. Packer once said, “The first rule of success in war is to know your enemy.” Scripture and even research remind us that one of the enemy’s greatest successes has been convincing people he doesn’t exist.
We’ll look at some of the main ways he works—through deception and error (2 Corinthians 11:14–15), division and temptation, and persecution and isolation—but also at how God has given us everything we need to stand firm. Ephesians 1:17–23 reminds us of the power and authority Christ has, and Isaiah 59:17 shows that even God Himself wears righteousness like armor.
In the end, we’ll see that our strength doesn’t come from our own effort but from being rooted in Christ. We’ll close with communion, remembering that Jesus has already won the victory, and we stand strong because we stand in Him.
