Abundant Life | The Fruit Of The Spirit | Love

Preacher:
Passage: Acts 8:13 (NIV), Acts 8:18–19 (NIV)

Do you want God’s gift of abundant life?

13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw. Acts 8:13 (NIV)

18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” Acts 8:18–19 (NIV)

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 (NIV)

Walking by the Spirit is not running ahead in arrogance and not lagging behind in disobedience

The abundant life God gives is identified as the fruit of the Spirit

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22–23 (NIV)

Love is the first characteristic of the fruit of the Spirit

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (NIV)

25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 (NIV)
