As our staff was enjoying lunch outside on the picnic tables at Mount Carmel this week, we were talking about the beautiful age diversity we have within our church family. We have seasoned, older adults who are prayer warriors and live in a daily world of deep abiding faith. Additionally, in the world that I primarily serve, we have beautiful families who bring their children to both Mount Carmel Kids and Mount Carmel Students each week. Although our ages may be on different spectrums, I love to see us come together as a family unit at Mount Carmel. What a beautiful picture of the family of God.

On Sunday, October 27, we’re having our annual Child Blessing event where young families make a commitment to raise their children to know of and about Jesus. This is a commitment that isn’t taken lightly. We encourage these parents to invite family members and church friends who will support them in this endeavor. Again, our older adults and grandparents along with church friends and peers coming together to become a beautiful family and support system. This year we have 17 babies and children coming for this time of blessing and commitment. Our lobby will be packed with 150 guests on Sunday afternoon. I always have my recruiting hat on, so please consider this your personal invitation to support these young moms and dads by serving in our nursery so that they can nurture their own faith walk as parents.

As we turn the calendar page to the month of November, we want to encourage our families to not rush through this season of giving thanks. Our Family Ministry is providing Gratitude Jars which will be available this weekend. These special jars contain 30 prompts for daily family conversation which lead to having family table time centered around gratitude. Our prayer is that these will slow down your busy schedule to focus on the goodness of God.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

With gratitude,
