When I was first asked to write a few paragraphs about Spiritual Links, two things came to mind:
1. Sister Sledge’s song “We Are Family”
2. Psalms 92:14 NIV – “They will still bear fruit in old age; they will stay fresh and green”
The image of old age just a few years ago was Grandma and Grandpa sitting in rocking chairs rocking the time away. Fast forward to us – SPIRITUAL LINKS!
We are a group of “SENIORS” who began meeting years ago (long before most of us were here at Mount Carmel), and it continues to grow as we study and learn, led by our various pastors and volunteers. We meet every Thursday from 10am – 11am and are currently studying the book of John. We welcome anyone who might want to join Christ-loving fellow Christians who desire to learn more about scripture and serve Jesus as “we round third and head for home”. What a privilege, as we stand by each other through our joys, sorrows, sickness, and losses.
It is not only a Bible study group but truly a “family”. We love to serve together, enjoy quarterly get-togethers, and help in any way we can as we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
A few examples of how we serve are:
PRAYER – We are prayer warriors!
Providing cakes for City Gospel Mission.
Putting together packages at Christmas to distribute to several local nursing homes.
Preparing food as needed for various events held at the church.
Providing donations needed by various organizations (Happy Church, Empower Youth, The Caring Place to name a few).
Whether you are a regular attendee at Mount Carmel or a newcomer, we would love for you to come and check us out.
