The Psalms are the lyrics to worship songs sung by the people of Israel. King David wrote Psalm 9. Here is the opening line to Psalm 9:
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. Psalm 9:1 NASB
The heart of worship is thanksgiving to God.
Thanksgiving is powerful when it gets specific, when you name what you are thankful for, and when you name the one to whom you are thankful.
Let me share with you what I will give thanks to the Lord for with all my heart. Let me share with you his wonders.
The ministry focus for Mount Carmel Christian Church for April is CONNECT. We want to be more intentional in connecting with God through worship and with each other through fellowship.
The first week of April was Easter.
Thank you to Rick and Barb Anderson, Chris and Jody Van Huss, Larry and Carolyn Elliott, and Shannon Bacon for facilitating our online prayer event the week before Easter. We are planning another event in June.
Thank you to Aaron Adams and Tim Peace for guiding us in reflection on the cross for Good Friday. Thank you to our team who ran the cameras, the soundboard, and the light board, making it possible for an online option to be available to those who chose that venue. Thank you to everyone who came together on Easter Sunday. We had 850 gather onsite and at least that many more with us online! It was good to celebrate Jesus alive on the Sunday of Sundays!
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to start our Rooted study. We have 22 groups beginning this month, representing 236 people. That’s 236 people gathering for the 10-week spiritual journey focused on Jesus. Those 22 groups represent small groups that were already meeting, small groups starting to meet again for the first time after the COVID shut down, and brand new groups.
Thank you to our 1-with-3 disciple-making groups working through their journey through the Gospel of Mark and Ephesians. Most of our 20 groups have begun to meet. Thank you for being willing to go small, go strong, and go slow.
Thank you to Lisa and Brian Davis, Rhonda Gaskill, Kaelyn Swift, Mark, Peggy, and Ella Tucker for sharing your heart and time with our preteens last Saturday for our SuperStart event! We had 38 3rd through 5th graders discover the truth of God’s Word in “Treasured.”
Thanks to everyone who responded to our call to help the folks in Jackson, Kentucky, who were displaced by recent flooding. We worked with our sister congregation in Jackson, the Happy Church, and we coordinated efforts with a sister church here in Cincinnati, Parkside Christian. We sent down five loads of groceries and hygiene items. Our first efforts were sending tools and $400 in gift cards with Randy Adams from Parkside Christian Church. Randy reported the following:
Thanks again for Mount Carmel’s generous donations. You gave us $400 in Walmart gift cards, and we gave the Charles Noble Family and the Louis Rentas Family each $100 worth of cards. Both families lost their homes and most of their possessions. The $200 balance in cards was given to The Happy Church Ministry to use as they saw fit. Each family and the church were very appreciative of the donations and wanted you and MCCC to know how much it meant to them for you to this. The tools were given to the community collection site at The First Church of God on Rt 30 in Jackson, KY. They also were very appreciative and said thank you for the donations.
Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.

Thanks to Larry Elliott and Tim Pride, who took a load of donations of food and home goods to Happy Church in his trailer. Tim Pride rode along with Larry to recon the area for possible work projects. These projects may start soon with smaller specialized groups to help Happy Church prepare for large workgroups coming later this year. Tim will be going down with a Mount Carmel work crew on April 24. We are also considering having this as our Summer work project starting July 17.
Thank you to the ladies of Mount Carmel. Starting in April, Pam Scott and Sandy Morgenthal will facilitate a support group for people who have loved ones that struggle with mental health issues.
Thanks to the ladies of our “Recharge” groups who provide an opportunity for moms to fellowship on Monday mornings or Tuesday nights. To the ladies who gather for Bible study on the Gospel of John and another to study the Sermon on the Mount. Thank you to the ladies who will be gathering on April 17 to connect and consider “Suffering is never for nothing.” We have over 60 registered.
Thank you, Steve Fuller, Brian Davis, Craig Dobson, and the other guys who have provided the Mount Carmel men opportunities to connect at our Monday night golf league and our Guys Night out on April 24.
Thank you to Noah and Reagan Anderson for bringing young adults together connect on Thursdays for a Bible study and a night of worship on April 22.
Thank you, Lord, for the seven baptisms we have had this year. For the young man who will be baptized this Sunday. For the harvest of baptisms, you will bring in the days to come as we seek to be obedient to be a Matthew 28:18-20 church!
Thank you to everyone who has been faithful in giving to finance the ministry of Mount Carmel Christian Church. As Tim Peace asked us this past Sunday in his message – “Am I living for spiritual richness or worldly richness?” I am thankful that many of you are making investments in Mount Carmel’s ministry through your faithful financial support.
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. Psalm 9:1 NASB
I am looking forward to being able to tell more stories of the wonders our Lord Jesus is doing in the lives of our Mount Carmel church family!
